The German Friendships

Bundesjugendtrainer Lars Meyer zu Bexten mit den Siegern aus International teamwork and communication, finding new friends, speaking foreign languages and celebrating the communal love for horses – all in 6 days. This is what awaits approximately 140 children and youngsters from 30 nations who will all be meeting up in Herford at the end of July. During the Sparkassen German Friendships each German rider will provide his international team partner with a horse. The two will then train together and compete together against the other teams; Jamaica meets Lüneburger Heide, South Africa and Bavaria canter together in the arena whilst Russia and Westphalia make the perfect pair.

Otto BeckerOne of the highlights of the week is the Top Ten Training; Training with the Stars! Ludger Beerbaum, Marcus Ehning, Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum, Otto Becker and many more gladly pass on their expertise at the Bexter Hof. For many youngsters their dream will come true when they receive tips from their Idols, some of whom are only known from the world of television. Four of the top riders will show their skills during the Champions Trophy under slightly more difficult conditions; an event where the riders exchange horses, as in the World Championships.

Ever since the event premiered in 1999 it has continued to attract the interest of budding young riders worldwide. Hundreds of requests to ride reach the Show Office for each new edition of the Sparkassen German Friendships. In ten years, more than 360 young riders from 55 Nations have participated in the Team Jumping event. The success of the event is a mixture of a communal passion, the international flair, living with guest families in the region and the cultural programme. Maybe also the parties…
